Dear Cross Country Parents,
Another Cross Country season has begun! We look forward to seeing many of you again and welcome all the parents of new athletes to the Wildcat cross country family. As always, the fall is a busy and exciting time. As the weather cools and the leaves begin to turn cross country action heats up.
Cross country is as much a test of wills as it is a test of strength. This is illustrated on the team level as unlikely squads rise to glory in the post-season and we witness it first hand on the individual level within our program. The learning process of embarking on a challenging 14 week trek to the state meet, being faced with innumerable obstacles, and realizing the stark differences between potential and reality make cross country a character building affair.
Last year the girls team broke an important barrier by qualifying for the State meet. As coaches we have every intention of returning to Great Meadows with both squads in 2007. To do this our teams will have to come together in their training and racing. All of our runners will have to be highly committed and focused on that coveted goal. If they accept this challenge, a top 4 finish in the Central Region is a real possibility for both teams.
The coaching staff understands that it takes a partnership between coaches, athletes, and parents to help a team develop into a program of excellence. To facilitate this partnership we welcome questions and communication so that we can provide the best possible experience for the athletes. Feel free to contact us at the information below. Together we can continue to grow into a perennial Cross Country and Track powerhouse at Deep Run High School.
