Deep Run Cross Country 2005 - vs. Freeman and TJ

Deep Run boys top Freeman - Girls fall to 9th ranked Rebels

Deep Run placed five runners in the top seven as the boys cross country team defeated Freeman in the first home meet of the 2005 Cross Country season. Drew Spicer's team leading time of 17:30.2 was good for 2nd overall. David Lynch finished 4th in 18:36.5 with Booth Hornsby, Michael Buhrman, and Brad Richards following in 5th through 7th places.

Deep Run's girls faced one of the top teams in the state, but still had three girls among the first 10 finishers. Erin Bragg had the top time of 20:59.4. Kate Putney was only a few seconds behind in 3rd with a time of 21:11.6. Katie Harrell finished 10th in 22:06.4.

Deep Run boys, girls gain wins at Hermitage

The Deep Run boys defeated Hanover, Highland Springs and Atlee, but lost to Hermitage in Wednesday evening's meet. Drew Spicer finished 4th overall, with David Lynch and Michael Buhrman close behind in 7th and 10th overall.

The girls placed five runners in the top 15. Erin Bragg finished 2nd, Kate Putney 4th, Katie Harrell 10th, Rebecca Kuzemchak 12th, and Lindsey Jones 13th. But Atlee still managed a narrow one point victory over Deep Run girls to keep the wildcats from a sweep.

Deep Run girls gain Milestat recognition for FUMA result

Brandon Miles writes "Only few years old, the Deep Run girls continue to improve as a team each year and [are] on track to be a squad that could eventually qualify for states out of the Central Region. The Deep Run girls were led at Fork Union by a seventh place effort from Erin Bragg in a time of 19:25.45."
