Wildcats enjoy success at 2005 CNU Winter Frolic

Ashley Orr leads Wildcat women to 2nd place finish

Ashley Orr emerged as one of the premier track and field athletes in Virginia in leading the DRHS women to a strong 2nd place showing at the CNU high school Winter Frolic. She contributed 20 individual points with a 2nd in the 55M dash (7.54) , a 4th in the 300M dash (44.13), and a 2nd in the triple jump (36' 3"). She also contributed to the 1st place 4x200 M relay.

The 2nd place finish by Deep Run's women's team reflected strong performances across the sprint, distance, and jumping events. Six new Deep Run women's school records were recorded during the meet.

CNU HS Winter Frolic - Travel and Instructions

Travel

  • Be sure to be prepared with uniform, shoes, warm clothes, and a water bottle and snacks, money, blanket, pillow, discman, books. Bus will stop.
  • Friday bus will depart at 1:25 pm. (Students going Friday will get early dismissal after 5th period.)
  • Athletes will be back no later than 10:30 pm Friday.
  • Saturday bus will depart at 6:30 am.
  • The Bus will return back to Deep Run between 6:00 and 6:30 pm Saturday.
  • Athletes may leave with their parents after their last event. Check out with a Coach.

Directions

  • I 295 South to I 64 East.
  • Go to Exit 258A: J Clyde Morris Blvd, US 17 South.
  • Follow US 17 South to US-60. Turn right onto US-60: Warwick Blvd.
  • Turn left on University Place.
  • The Freeman Center will be visible on your left. Park in Lot D.
  • (87 miles one way)
  • There will be a $3.00 admission charge.
  • Athletes must have a uniform to be admitted via athletes' entrance.

2005 CNU High School Winter Frolic

Christopher Newport University hosts its annual High School Winter Frolic on Friday, December 9 and Saturday, December 10.

Deep Run has several highly-seeded individuals and teams in this year's meet.

  • Ashley Orr is seeded 2nd in the 300M dash, 3rd in the 55M dash, and 3rd in the triple jump. Ashley is also a member of the 3rd seeded girls 4x200 M relay.
  • Megan Fuson is seeded 3rd in the 500 M run.
  • Courtney King is seeded 5th in the 500 M run.
  • Erin Bragg is seeded 2nd in the 1600 M run and is a member of the 2nd seeded girls 4x800 M relay.
  • Katie Harrell is seeded 6th in the 3200 M run.
  • David Lynch is seeded 6th in the 500 M run.
  • Drew Spicer is seeded 3rd inthe 3200 M run.
  • Kirk Fischer is seeded 6th in the high jump.
