Storms interrupt inaugural Deep Run Track and Field Invitational

Runners from twenty-eight (28) schools challenged each other and the elements during the inaugural DRHS Track and Field Invitational on Saturday.

Wildcats girls win two

April 1, 2006 - Colonial Forge HS - Stafford, VA

Ashley Orr, Briana Hudson, and Marlena Daly captured two 1st and three 2nd place finishes in the High Jump, Long Jump, and Triple Jump for 44 of Deep Run's 93 points at the VA Runners Invitational on Saturday. Ashley, Marlena, Izumi Suzuki, and Joanna Hassell also won the 4x100m relay.

Matthew Armentrout, Kirk Fischer, Antone Exum and Feild Craddock showed similar skills in the air as they captured a first, second, third, and fifth in the Pole Vault, High Jump, and Triple Jump.

Six new drhs boys records were set at the Colonial Forge track and Kirk Fischer's high jump result qualifies him for the state meet again. The girls set seven new drhs school records and Ashley Orr's long jump mark qualifies her for the state meet.

Friday-Saturday, March 3-4, 2006 - George Mason University, Fairfax, VA

Deep Run scored its first-ever points in a State Championship track and field meet this past weekend. Ashley Orr gained an eighth-place finish in the triple jump and the girls 4x200 M relay team of Megan Fuson, Katie Fuson, Ashley Orr, and Joanna Hassell took seventh place. The relay team bettered their previous mark of 1:47.56 by 1.90 seconds to win their heat in 1:45.66. The Wildcat team was the only team from the 1st and 2nd heats to finish in scoring position. Deep Run's 3 points left them tied for 37th place among the 45 teams posting scores.

February 24-25, 2006 - Arthur Ashe Center, Richmond, VA

The Central Region Championship meet provided both thrills and heartbreak for the DRHS track and field program. While sending a record number of individual and team representatives to the to State meet, the DRHS squad also failed to advance some of its top performers.

February 17-18, 2006 - Arthur Ashe Center, Richmond, VA

Top eight finishers plus all Deep Run finishers. Top six individual finishers advance to regional competition. Top three relay teams advance.
