Ashley Orr leads Wildcat women to 2nd place finish

Ashley Orr emerged as one of the premier track and field athletes in Virginia in leading the DRHS women to a strong 2nd place showing at the CNU high school Winter Frolic. She contributed 20 individual points with a 2nd in the 55M dash (7.54) , a 4th in the 300M dash (44.13), and a 2nd in the triple jump (36' 3"). She also contributed to the 1st place 4x200 M relay.

The 2nd place finish by Deep Run's women's team reflected strong performances across the sprint, distance, and jumping events. Six new Deep Run women's school records were recorded during the meet.

Briana Hudson captures 2 first place finishes

Briana Hudson won the individual high jump and ran in the winning 4x200 M relay. In the high jump, Briana cleared 5' 2" to win the competition and also qualify for the Virginia state championship meet. Teammate Katelyn Zimmerman finished only a notch below Briana, with a 5' 0" jump that was good for a tie for 3rd place. In addition to Ashley and Briana, the members of the winning 4x200 M relay were Katie Fuson and Joanna Hassell.

Deep Run's star senior, Megan Fuson, moved to the longer 500M distance and captured a third place finish and the DRHS record with a 1:24.65 time. Junior Erin Bragg smashed the DRHS 1600 M record in taking 2nd in 5:32.83. The women's 4x800 M relay (Bragg, Bennett, Jones, and King) placed 5th in 10:44.60.
